Baker Books Celebrates the Latest Harry Potter Book
Thanks to everyone who came to the Buttonwood Park Zoo on Friday evening, July 20th, 2007, to celebrate the release of the last Harry Potter book! We loved sharing the anticipation of the book's arrival with local fans of J.K. Rowling's magical world. It was a lot of fun.
The Zoo was transformed, beginning with the platform 9 3/4 wall at the front entrance so that everyone felt like "we're not in Kansas anymore." Guests milled inside and out, going for rides on the Howart's Express, watching Harry Potter videos on the patio, and engaging in all sorts of activities and games. Enthusiastic attenders created wizard hats, paper snitches, jumping frogs and magical clay creatures. We were impressed by some incredible spellers and trivia fans, and loved watching the owl pellet dissections, face painting and fortune telling.
Having been assigned houses by the sorting hat at the zoo entrance, attendees earned points throughout the evening. We think it was just perfect that Gryffindor actually won!
There were some amazing costumes. Congratulations to Olivia and Rebecca for their fabulously clever costume as two moving portraits and to Aaron for most resembling Harry Potter.
With so many opinions among fans being considered before the release, we asked party-goers to contribute their ideas. Look below to see just a few of the box-full of predictions we collected during the party.

Harry will give Voldemort a hug. Because Voldemort can't love, he'll be so overcome with joy he'll cease to exist. - Goyle

Dumbledore returns (like the phoenix that he is!), and Harry does NOT drop out of Hogwarts. He makes defeating Voldemort his senior project. - Marcia
Since Harry's eyes are green, and Voldemort's eyes are red, and red and green are the Christmas colors, Santa Claus will rescue Harry. - Josephine

Snape did the unbreakable vow with Dumbledore to portect Harry -- which is how Dumbledore allowed him into Hogwarts originally. - Emily
Snape is a double agent. Dumbledore told Snape to kill him. Harry could be the final horcrux, however he may or may not die. Ron and Hermione will get married. - Tania
